Terms of Service

Effective from 9 July 2026

1. Who we are

The Polygot service ("Service") is operated by Lukáš Girásek, registered address Hlavní 1358/97d, 747 06 Opava, Czech Republic, Company ID (IČO) 05942420, VAT ID CZ8908125831 ("we", "us"). You can reach us at info@polygot.io.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Service available at polygot.io and app.polygot.io. By creating an account you agree to these Terms.

2. The Service

Polygot is a web application for managing software localization files (XLIFF): uploading and parsing files, translating strings manually or with AI assistance, reviewing, team collaboration and exporting the results. The Service is provided "as available" and we continuously develop it — features may be added or changed over time.

3. Your account

  • You must provide a valid e-mail address and keep your credentials confidential. Actions taken through your account are considered your actions.
  • You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use the Service.
  • Each workspace has members with roles (owner, admin, editor, viewer); the workspace owner is responsible for who they invite.

4. Trial, subscription and payments

  • Every new workspace includes a 30-day free trial with full functionality. No payment details are required for the trial.
  • After the trial, continued use requires a subscription of €5 per month per workspace (incl. applicable VAT, which is determined at checkout based on your country).
  • Payments are processed by Creem (creem.io), acting as merchant of record — Creem is the seller for the payment transaction and handles payment processing, VAT and invoicing. We never see or store your card details.
  • The subscription renews automatically every month. You can cancel at any time in Settings → License; access then continues until the end of the paid period and does not renew.
  • When a trial or subscription ends, the workspace switches to read-only mode: you can still browse everything and export your files, but editing, uploads and AI translation are locked until you subscribe.
  • We may change the price with at least 30 days' notice by e-mail; the new price applies from the next billing period, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

5. Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)

If you are a consumer in the EU, you have the right to withdraw from the subscription contract within 14 days of purchase without giving a reason (Section 1829 of the Czech Civil Code). By starting the subscription you expressly request that we begin providing the digital service immediately. To withdraw, e-mail us at info@polygot.io within the 14-day period; refunds are processed through Creem. The free trial lets you evaluate the full Service before any payment.

6. Your content

  • Files, source strings, translations and glossaries you upload remain yours. You grant us a licence to store and process them solely to provide the Service to you.
  • You are responsible for having the necessary rights to the content you upload and for its lawfulness.
  • You can export your data at any time (XLIFF export, API). After a workspace is deleted, its content is removed from the live database.

7. AI translations

The AI translation feature sends the source strings, context notes and your glossary to OpenAI using the API key you configure for your workspace. Machine translation output may be inaccurate — you are responsible for reviewing translations before using them. Your use of an OpenAI API key is also subject to OpenAI's own terms.

8. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the Service for unlawful content or activity, or to infringe third-party rights.
  • Do not attempt to breach the security of the Service, access other users' data, or circumvent rate limits and technical restrictions.
  • Do not resell or provide the Service to third parties as your own service without our consent.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these Terms; where reasonable, we will warn you first.

9. Availability and liability

  • We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Maintenance and updates may cause short outages.
  • The Service is provided with reasonable skill and care. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages or lost profits, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Czech law (e.g. harm caused intentionally or to natural rights of a person).
  • Keep your own copies of source files — the Service is a management tool, not your only backup.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, e.g. to reflect new features or legal requirements. For material changes we will notify you by e-mail or in the app at least 14 days in advance. If you do not agree with a change, you may cancel your subscription before it takes effect; continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of the Czech Republic.

Consumers may also use out-of-court dispute resolution with the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce, coi.cz) or the EU online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
